Opening night of our exhibition, Entwine was on Friday evening (15 June) and it was a lot of fun. Art Nuvo Buderim hosted a beautiful event and I’m so grateful to Andrew, Olivia and their team. I’m also thrilled to be exhibiting alongside Shannon Garson with her exquisite ceramics. The exhibition runs till 7 July.

Last weekend I had the honour of being the Artist in Residence at the Immanuel Arts Festival here on the Sunshine Coast. Well, I can honestly say I've never spoken so much to so many people in such a short amount of time. I had a blast and caught up with so many people, some who new me as a textile artist many years ago. I also got to spend time with the other Artist in Residence, Denise Lamby and Artist in Focus, Dasha Reily. Both very talented women and inspirational to say the least. Big shout out to the organisers and volunteers that worked so incredibly hard to make it such a success. Thanks for the opportunity! I've been lucky enough to be included in an exhibition, Threadalicious, at Stonehouse Gallery and Shop, Warrandyte, Victoria. I'm exhibiting some of my work digitally printed as silk scarves (which is my first passion).
The exhibition runs from 28 April - 31 May 2018. Check it out www.stonehousegallery.com/up-and-comingthreadalicious.html I'm thrilled to be invited to the Immanuel Art Festival this year as one of the 'Artist in Residence'. I'm really looking forward to what is a vibrant and exciting event for the Sunshine Coast art community. The Festival runs from 25 - 27 May, 2018. Check it out on their website: http://www.immanuelartsfestival.com.au/farley-cameron.html ‘When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it's your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else.’ (Georgia O'Keeffe) In the spirit of ‘following my art’ and embracing the concept of living a creative life I’ve accepted I have to promote myself. Now, anyone who knows me will tell you that this does not come naturally, but I’ve realised that if I don’t no one else will. So, I've embarked on a little self-promotion and designed up some gift cards. I selected six paintings for this lot and am thinking of creating a more abstract set later down the track. The process of designing and producing them was fun enough, but when the box arrived from the printer, I was like a little kid on Christmas morning. At the moment, they are available on my Etsy site and through Art Nuvo. Check em’ out. Cheers.
Last year I read Elizabeth Gilbert’s book, Big Magic and I can say it really did have a significant effect on me and how I view myself and my art. Worth a read if you’re feeling creatively stagnant. I was not going anywhere with my art. I would just say ‘yeah I’m going to do this or I should do that’ but never actually took any steps or made any decisions that would get me anywhere. In a way there was safety in that, I could hide there in my comfortable inertia, never put myself out there, but ultimately I knew that it was making me sad and cranky. Reading Big Magic just lifted a cloud and said to me give it a go, what have you got to lose?
My goal is to live a creative life. the decisions I’m making have to lead me to my mountain. This website is a step toward the base camp. |
