My work focuses on nature with native plants of particular interest. I'm inspired by the rhythm of the natural world, which ignites my imagination with its endless choice of line, form, colour and texture.
My artistic journey started many years ago when I headed off to Melbourne to study Textile Design. That experience set me on a creative path that I am forever grateful for.
My first foray into the creative world professionally was in textiles with a business that I started in partnership with another creative soul, my mum. We started the label Farley Design by printing t-shirts on her veranda. We learnt a lot. It wasn't long and we were printing silks, linen and cottons for fashion designers as well as ourselves and our label grew along with our experience. Looking back it was a wonderfully exciting time but then came next phase of my life, motherhood - an experience that I think requires a huge amount of creativity, just expressed differently. I then worked in fashion boutiques and taught at TAFE, but I had a yearning to get back to earning a living creatively. After completing a Bachelor of Computer Based Art and Design I worked as a graphic designer for a newspaper as well as freelancing. This experience was invaluable for me, however I eventually came to realise I wanted to get back to my art, so, I picked up my paint brush and started painting. What you see here is the result.
Follow your art is our family’s motto, whatever that art may be. I hope you find something you like in my work and that maybe you too can find inspiration to follow your art.
